Creators Guide – How to grow your business

While the social media has been a boon for creators, it is important to plan for maximum benefits. So this guide is for creators who want to use the reach of social media to get new customers. Today the industrial age has been replaced by the digital age. Communication and information passes at lightning speed anywhere in the world. There are no geographical boundaries and time zone. Face to face meetings have been replaced by FaceTime and video conference calls. So here are a few ideas which I have found simple and successful.

Increasing outreach with interesting content

Boring and misleading content is a strict no no. Your social media posts have to excite the audience. What are you aiming for? What information are you providing viewers? Is your content original? Are you repeating the same advertisement poster again and again? Providing information and new ideas always work. Creativity does not mean catchy songs and flowery captions.

If you try to sell on social media, it does not always work. Your posts should have a hidden message. Good and well-researched content will always attract customers.

Choosing the right platform

Social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram are for entertainment and keeping in touch with family and friends. Twitter or Koo is for posting a quick update. A website or a blog is your own personal portfolio page to provide information as well as knowledge. While Google My Business is a pure business growth platform.

Though Facebook is the biggest social media platform, you would have better success with Instagram. It has many built in features will help focus only on content. Facebook is crowded and with the attention span of online audience lasting just a few second, it is time to move away from FB.

Even if you are not able to afford a website right now, remember social media is dominated by Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp which basically are same ownership. On the other hand, the search part is dominated by Google search and Google Maps. Smart phones are dominated by Android which is again owned by Google. So if you do not have a website or an entry on Google Maps you are losing half your viewers who are coming from Google.

Reaching the right people

Whichever platform you are on, it is their job to get the right people to your account. Having the right content is most important factor here.

First follow your friends and relatives. They are your most important support system. Next comes the other content creators and artists in the same category as yours. Encourage their work with likes and comments. Check what they are posting and what hashtags they are using. Take inspiration but do not copy. Next comes the bigger brands, distributors and suppliers.

At this point you need to stop the likes and follow rush and focus on content. A well presented content will always bring in visitors.

Keep your clients interested

While choosing growth and greater outreach do not forget the old or present customers. You have to make an effort to keep them updated. Reach out to them during festive occasions to wish them. Drop a message once a while. Reply to their social media posts. But do not flood them with spams messages and posters. Today it is so easy to make broadcast lists on Google and keep sending messages. A better way is to put updates on status and stories. Do remember, with Google out there, your customers will still find you.
