Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin and Endorphin are the happy hormones for the brain. We all have heard about them and the acronym DOSE. Have your daily DOSE of happiness. But this time have it without doing anything. Please don’t take nothing literally. But close to nothing.
Tip No 1
Go out in the sun. Serotonin levels increase when we spend time in the sun. A brisk walk can do the trick. Soak in the sunlight.
Tip No 2
Listen to music. Increasing Dopamine levels can be a challenge. Moderate increase in dopamine can lead to great benefits to the brain.
Tip No 3
Take a walk. Try taking a walk anytime, even at the end of long hard day. It works at multiple levels increasing endorphins as well as dopamine too.
This activity can also have a variation. Try paced walk with Google Fit app. Paced walk or brisk walk even for 15 mins and listening to music works great for all the three happy hormones. What better option than walking with your soulmate. You get all the four happy hormones together.
Tip No 4
Play with a dog or cat. Oxytocin is the only happy hormone which is bound to love. You get plenty of it during the daytime and give it to others too. But playing with a pet gives large dosages of Oxytocin in short time.
Tip No 5
Watch fish in a bowl or tank. I could have said do meditation. But it is not everyones cup of tea.
Tip No 6
Dark chocolate has health benefits and it helps with Endorphin while milk chocolate gives the instant kick of Dopamine. Choose wisely.
But what if you decide to do anything
Doing nothing at first sounds interesting. But you will definitely get bored doing nothing. So this last para will be about how to get all the four happy hormones by doing something. In this busy times there are just a handful of activities that which we can do to benefit from all the four hormones.
An art and craft activity is supposed to benefit us in the following ways-
- Doing an activity which we love.
- Completing the activity and task.
- Exercise hands, eyes and brain.
- Therapeutic Experience as good as meditating.
- Get compliments on showing off your art work.
- Getting creative ideas in mind.
- Spread happiness to other when you gift something creative.
