Kreative gifting ideas for holi

Among the many festivals we celebrate in India, holi represents colours. This festival is all about meeting people and celebrating with them. More importantly holi allows you to get creative, with the attire, takeaway gifts and food.

Packing the organic colours

Use of colours to celebrate holi is believed to have originated in Vrindavan during the childhood of Lord Krishna. Initially red was the only colour used without water. Today there are a multitude of colours, Red represents fertility, Green symbolises spring, yellow represents sunshine and so on. To get the fun element we also have water balloons and pichkari or water guns. There was a phase in India where too much of toxic colours had entered in the market. They are still sold but now the awareness about organic colours has made necessary changes in the market. So this holi carry organic colours to use and gift organic colours to others too.

While most colour manufacturer brands have moved to having organic colours in their product list they still have the plastic and uninteresting packing. Most custom gift hampers still have plastic packing used which is environmentally harmful. So here are some packing ideas for organic colours.

Jute bags

Jute fibre comes from the jute plant which is extensively grown in India and Bangladesh. Infact these two countries account for the bulk of the production, mostly by small farmers. There is no better way to empower these farmers than to go organic with the use of jute bags for holi colours. You can either gift small pouches or give a big jute bag which can be later reused and not just thrown away afterwards.

If you are an entrepreneur you have a chance to promote your brand by imprinting a logo.

You can also use cotton in place of jute bag.

Draw or write a custom message

If you find plain Jane jute bags too boring, go creative and draw something funny or write a custom handwritten message. You can use the same organic colours to draw something on the bag. You can print pics of your friends and paste them on the bag too.

Bamboo bags and Bamboo paper bags

Bamboo is the new rage. India has forests of Bamboo trees. They grow easily and easy to process too. Paper made out of bamboo is much cheaper than that made of any other wood. Bamboo grows very fast and that makes it easy for the bamboo forests to regenerate. Bamboo paper bags and bags made out of thins strands of bamboo are the new rage if you want to go organic. You can use the paper bags to pack the colours and arrange it in either a bamboo basket or bamboo strands bag. You can add to the charm of these bags by carrying flower petals either fresh or dried to be used for holi celebrations.
